Construction continues to progress well, with key milestones being achieved across the site.

Cable trough installation for the cables that will connect the battery units across the site, along with surface drainage works, is nearing completion, preparing the site for the next phase of construction. The next stage will see the installation of the battery units, together with the associated electrical and safety equipment.

One of the next major construction activities will be the installation of the underground 400kV electricity cable. This high-voltage cable will carry electricity between the battery energy storage system (BESS) and the existing Thorpe Marsh substation, connecting the project to National Grid’s electricity transmission network. The cable is expected to arrive on site in August 2026.

By the end of May, the project team had safely completed more than 156,000 hours of work without a lost time incident, demonstrating the continued focus on health and safety throughout construction.
